What to Expect in Your First Kickboxing Class at Sanda Kickboxing Academy London
What to expect from your first kickboxing class
Introduction
We are always accepting newcomers to Sanda Kickboxing Academy, no matter your experience level you are welcome to come and train with us. As coaches as Sanda Kickboxing academy it is our passion and life to teach this unique style of kickboxing. How is it unique? Well as far as we know it is the only style of kickboxing to originate from China and is the only style to combine wrestling with kickboxing!
Coming to any class for the first time can be daunting so we have written a brief explanation of what to expect from your first lesson so you can come mentally and physically prepared.
What to Bring
When training a martial art like Sanda Kickboxing which has lots of contact and partner work, you need to ensure that you wear clothing that you can move in easily and that your clothing does not have anything that can cause abrasions or cuts such as zips or jewellery.
We will lend you kickboxing equipment for your first class so you do not need to bring any equipment. We would recommend bringing a water bottle so you can stay hydrated throughout the session and optionally bring a towel if you sweat a lot during training.

Class Structure Overview
We plan all of our classes ahead of time so if you come back you will be revising the same techniques throughout the week. All classes will involve a warm up followed by partner and pad-work and sometimes sparring drills. We usually end the class with some conditioning and then a cool down.
We have specific beginner kickboxing classes where you will be able to work at your own pace and learn the basics of Sanda Kickboxing in a more relaxed training environment.
What You'll Learn
In your first class you will learn some of the basics of Sanda Kickboxing, this will include; basic footwork, guard, boxing, kicks as well as some of the takedowns of Sanda Kickboxing.
Each month has a theme, so when you try your first class, you'll focus on specific skills such as offence, defence, or wrestling techniques.
Will There Be Sparring?
We save sparring for our intermediate and sparring classes. You will not be doing full sparring in any of our beginner or mixed ability classes. You will spar when you have developed far enough in your Sanda Kickboxing technique and can move up to our intermediate classes.
What Happens Next?
Once you have given class a go and get a taste of what we teach you are welcome to join up and join one of our monthly packages.
Now the real journey begins! You will learn everything Sanda Kickboxing has to offer, with consistent practice you will get stronger, fitter and more confident in your skills.
