Sanda Kickboxing Academy – Terms and Conditions
1. About Us
These Terms and Conditions govern your membership with Sanda Kickboxing Academy (“the Academy”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By joining, you agree to be bound by these terms.
2. Health and Safety
2.1 You confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, you are medically fit to participate in martial arts and fitness activities.
2.2 You must inform your instructor of any injury, medical condition, or recent concussion (within the last 6 months) prior to training.
2.3 You agree to follow all safety instructions given by coaches at all times.
2.4 We reserve the right to refuse participation in any activity where we reasonably believe there is a risk to your health or safety or that of others.
3. Assumption of Risk
3.1 You acknowledge that martial arts and fitness training involve inherent risks, including the risk of physical injury, serious harm, or death.
3.2 You voluntarily accept and assume all such risks associated with participation in training, classes, sparring, and related activities.
4. Limitation of Liability
4.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
Death or personal injury caused by negligence
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
Any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law
4.2 Subject to clause 4.1, the Academy shall not be liable for:
Loss or damage to personal property brought onto the premises
Injuries sustained where all reasonable care has been taken
Any indirect or consequential losses
4.3 You agree that participation is at your own risk, except where injury or loss results from our negligence.
5. Conduct and Class Etiquette
You agree to:
Arrive 5–10 minutes before class starts (to ensure you warm up properly and reduce your risk of injury)
Not participate if late (no refunds will be given)
Follow all instructor directions without interruption
Remain in the training area unless given permission to leave
Treat staff, members, and equipment with respect
Assist in tidying equipment after use
We reserve the right to remove any participant from a session for safety or behavioural reasons.
6. Sparring Rules
6.1 Sparring is only permitted with instructor approval.
6.2 Required protective equipment (mouthguard, 16oz gloves, shin guards, headgaurds for those under 18 years old) must be worn.
6.3 You must immediately stop when instructed.
6.4 Participation in sparring is at your own risk and subject to coach discretion.
7. Membership and Fees
7.1 Membership options and pricing are as follows:
Unlimited Monthly Membership:
£70(Adults), £60(Concessions and Under 16’s classes), £50 (Self Defence classes only), £50 (Tai Chi Classes only)
8 Classes per Month:
£60 (Adults)
4 Classes per Month:
£35 (Tai Chi), £30 ( Under 16’s classes)
7.2 All memberships are payable monthly via Direct Debit on the 1st or 15th of each month.
7.3 Fees are calculated on an annual basis (12 months) to ensure continuity of service.
7.4 If you join part way through a billing period, your initial fee will be calculated on a pro-rata basis from your start date up to the next applicable billing date (either the 1st or the 15th of the month).
8. Insurance
8.1 An annual insurance fee of £20 applies.
8.2 Insurance is provided through the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA).
8.3 You agree to comply with any applicable BCCMA rules and policies.
9. Payments, Refunds, and Suspension
9.1 All membership and insurance fees are non-refundable, except where required by law.
9.2 You may not attend classes if payments are outstanding.
9.3 In cases of long-term illness or serious injury, membership adjustments may be considered at our discretion.
9.4 We provide approximately 49–50 weeks of training per year; closures (e.g., holidays) are reflected in pricing.
10. Junior Members and August Closure
10.1 Classes for children and junior members (under 18 years of age) do not run during the month of August.
10.2 No membership fees will be charged for children and junior members for the month of August.
10.3 Adult classes continue as normal during this period unless otherwise stated.
11. Cancellation
11.1 You may cancel your membership by providing at least one month’s written notice via email to info@sandakickboxingacademy.co.uk.
11.2 Notice periods take effect from the next payment date (1st of the following month).
11.3 You remain liable for payments during the notice period.
12. Termination by the Academy
We reserve the right to terminate membership immediately, without refund, if you:
Breach these Terms
Engage in unsafe, abusive, or disruptive behaviour
Fail to follow instructor guidance
Act in a way that may harm the reputation of the Academy
13. Use of Skills
You agree not to use techniques learned at the Academy to harm others except in lawful self-defence and in accordance with applicable UK law.
14. Personal Data
Your personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection laws. We will only use your information for membership administration, safety, and communication purposes.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and the Academy and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
16. Parent / Guardian Consent (Under 18s)
16.1 Where the member is under the age of 18, a parent, legal guardian, or authorised carer must agree to these Terms and Conditions on their behalf.
16.2 By agreeing to these Terms, the parent, guardian, or carer confirms that:
They have read and understood these Terms and Conditions
They consent to the minor participating in martial arts and fitness activities
They accept the risks outlined in these Terms on behalf of the minor
They agree to be responsible for the minor’s conduct and compliance with these Terms
16.3 The parent, guardian, or carer also confirms that the minor is medically fit to participate and that any relevant medical conditions or injuries have been disclosed.
17. Declaration
By ticking the box, you confirm that:
You have read and understood these Terms and Conditions
You agree to be legally bound by them
The information you have provided is accurate
You are over 18 years old or you are a parent, guardian, or authorised carer agreeing on behalf of a member under 18
